Roman A. Misula
Roman Misula is a seasoned trial attorney with extensive experience in both criminal and civil litigation. Born in Ukraine and raised in Rochester, Roman began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Monroe County from 2012 to 2018, where he prosecuted a broad range of cases, including DWI, assault, narcotics offenses, sex crimes, and complex financial misconduct. Over the course of his prosecutorial career, he conducted more than 100 bench and jury trials, developing a reputation for meticulous preparation, strategic courtroom advocacy, and a strong command of complex evidentiary issues.
Roman concluded his tenure in the Economic Crimes Bureau, specializing in white-collar and financial crimes such as embezzlement, identity theft, insurance fraud, and large-scale organized economic schemes.
In private practice with Ganguly Brothers Misula PLLC, Roman focuses on federal and state criminal defense, with a significant portion of his work dedicated to complex federal litigation, including economic espionage, intellectual property theft, and high-stakes white-collar matters. He represents individuals and businesses in investigations and prosecutions involving financial fraud, trade secrets, government enforcement actions, and civil disputes arising from business and commercial conflicts. His experience includes defending clients in actions brought by the New York Attorney General’s Office and other state and federal agencies.
Beyond his white-collar practice, Roman represents clients charged with serious criminal offenses—including homicide, violent felonies, and DWI—and provides strategic counsel in civil matters ranging from contract and commercial disputes to real-estate and personal-injury litigation. He leverages his cross-disciplinary background and substantial trial experience to deliver aggressive, informed, and effective representation in high-pressure matters.
Roman is admitted to practice in all New York State Courts and in the United States District Court for the Western District of New York. He lives in Irondequoit with his wife and three children and remains deeply involved in the community. He serves as Vice President of the Ukrainian Cultural Center of Rochester, sits on the Board of Directors of the Legal Aid Society of Rochester, and previously served on the Irondequoit Ethics Board. He is a Town Court Judge in the Town of Irondequoit and an active member of both the New York State Bar Association and the Ukrainian American Bar Association. He also previously served as the Monroe County Legislator for District 17.
